DVD Ripping Question
To start this post off I would like to say when ever I get a new dvd (or a cd even) I like to copy it to my hd so I can watch it on my laptop on trips.
I have been ripping dvds for quite a while now and I have ran in to a few that will not rip. For instance The Matrix Reloaded I can not copy it to my hd no matter what I try. Their are a few other dvds I had problems with as well. I was wondering if it could be my dvd drive? It is a Hi-Val DVD-Rom. Or do some DVDs have different encryption? |
what software are you using to rip, and are you getting errors and such?
|
I highly recommend DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

Ill second the recommendation for DVD Shrink. I havent had to use DVD Decrypter yet but it also came highly recommended.

I am using dvd decrypter and this is the erroe message I am getting.

There are some good guides here for backing up dvds:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ Not sure if any of them will help for your particular problem though. Try using CloneDVD to make an image of the movie. I believe it copies raw data so maybe it'll work. I'll have to give it a try myself and see what I can figure out. Good luck. |
I get that same error sometimes when I am ripping dvd's with dvd decrypter. If I clean the disk or put it in my other dvd drive the second time I try ripping it almost always works. For the few cases where the disk was extremly scratched I have had some luck with 321 Studios DVD X Rescue.
I personally ripped Matrix Reloaded without any proplems so I don't think it has any special encryption. |
