Maybe some more details?

A bit from the release notes:

* V3.4-2004-05-03 (experimental)
- switched from syslinux to isolinux (no emulation) boot method
- Kernel 2.4.26 (default) and Kernel 2.6.5 (as boot option)
with ACPI enabled (use knoppix acpi=off in case of problems,
knoppix26 to try Kernel 2.6)
- New wireless drivers for: ipw2100 ("Centrino"(TM)), madwifi, hostap
- captive-ntfs installer
- live-installer by Fabian Franz
- KDE 3.2.2
- kdevelop3
- OpenOffice 1.1.1 (german and english)
- gimp 2.0
- Had to remove the entire latex system (101MB) because of space reasons
- Removed KOffice for the same reason
- /dev/modem setup tool supporting serial, USB, bluetooth and irda devices
- gprs connection tool
- lots of improvements in the hardware detection and new boot options, please
check knoppix-cheatcodes.txt.

This actually looks really cool. I may download it and have a play, even though I already run Linux hehe.

I'm especially excited for kernel 2.6 and kde3.2. Been running them on my desktop for a while, and they've been working quite nicely.

Removing the latex sub-system?
Nah-ah... Bad idea.

Better to compress and remove features that no one uses anyway.

I dont know that it isnt already in there, but if not, the problem is likely that Firefox isnt very well optimized for Linux. It is written to run under windows, and the Linux version isnt too fast. Dont get me wrong, I love Firefox, its all I use on my Windows box, but it runs like crap under Linux. I just use Mozilla instead, and everything is good.

Fire fox is not on 3.4. Mozilla is still the same bloated piece of shit it always was-it takes about 40 sec to load on my knoppix on a 512MB 1.8ghz system.

Otherwise this ver is very nice. I run it off an old 12x DVD-ROM so I can use K3B to burn CDs on my Plextor and it's twice as fast to load apps as 3.3 was. I highly recommend it, even if you just need a live OS to recover files after a crash and befroe a format.

It doesn't matter how fast your system is - the bottleneck is likely your CD-ROM drive in this case.

um....I really don't think that's true. It runs great for me under Linux and I really don't see the Mozilla Organization targeting Firefox to Windows if they were to target it to any specific OS in the first place.

having tried the gecko family, presto browsers, and konqueror on knoppix, I definitely prefer Opera over any of the other options still.

Well, granted, I havent run it under Linux since 0.7, but when I did, it was pretty slow, and Moz was plenty fast. When asking around to see why, I was told that it was because Firefox wasnt optimized for the Linux environment. I dont know, and dont care too much--I just use Mozilla in Linux now.

yeah my DVD-ROM is a cheap 12x but the whole of 3.4 is 2x faster than 3.3. Only Mozilla is a slow dog. I have the exact same problem with it installed in windows, to be fair tho it only takes 20sec to load off the HDD in windows which is still ridiculous. They should just scrap Moz altogether and go with firefox already.
