php & asp ( can it be learned in a month )

Well just found this job that i really want. They need one with my educcation but they want that i am good at php and asp... Then i would ask is it possible to learn it in a month and do you know some really good tutorials or books....

you schould know that im only good at html and javascript...

Javascript will help, but if that's the only programming experience you have, it's going to be a busy month.
Yes, you can teach yourself php and asp in a month, but it will be very difficult.
Also, true expertise comes from experience that just can't be gotten within that short a time-frame. It is easy to learn constructs within a language, but common programming styles take longer to "settle".

All my knowledge about php is self-taught with the help of the php manual at www.php.net. (that manual is reasonably good btw). So I can't recommend you any good books or such.

My advice: think of a pet project you'd like to build and go at it! That's the best way to find and overcome problems you'll likely encounter in your new job.
If you're really interested in PHP / ASP go for it!

I learned PHP in a week, but that's because I went out and bought a book where I could sit down and whatnot and I also had knowledge of other actual languages.
I think you can probably learn it in a month, but it all depends on how much you push yourself.
If anything, get the basics of it down and stuff of both of them and say that you have a bit of experience. You might also want to ask them which one you'd be using more.
Another question for you, what style do you learn, like learning why stuff works, or learn by seeing it work and stuff?
If you can understand stuff from seeing it work, then I'd suggest "PHP Fast & Easy Web Developement." It will throw you right into making stuff, but beware, it won't really tell you why or how stuff works. It also doesn't really get into some of the good and heavy stuff.
Anyway, I'm going to stop my ramble now...

One month is fine for learning php / asp syntax etc, but you won't be a descent programmer after one month ! Experience is the key

I am going to assume here that you are a star programmer and that all you need to know is PHP and ASP syntax. If you have never had experiances with big projects in other object oriented languages, then you're in some deeper shit...

But as a professional PHP programmer (I just got hired after my internship... how cool is that :)) I can recommend Sams Teach Yourself PHP in 24 Hours to get your bearings in PHP.
It helped me... and after that: practise, practise, practise...

i agree with the above comments. php is a doddle, and as also mentioned php.net has a lovely online manual

php can be learnt in a week...database interfacing is also real easy with it
i would recco to stay away from asp coz its extremely cumbersome and u need IIS for it...apache doent support asp and configuring it for asp is damn tough
u can configure php for apache in 5 mins(if u know how :P)

IMP TIP:use apache 1.3 series if u r gonna use php coz apache2 doesnt support php well

I learned php in 8 hours.. but the key is knowing HOW TO PROGRAM. If you know how to organize your code structures, then learning a language is simple. If you DON'T, then you've got some learning to do.
