making a pay site?
i appologize if this was covered before.. i did a search couldnt narrow it down to what i was trying to get.
basically i just want to know how people turn their sites into pay sites. I dont know jack about making a site so treat me as an idiot. I suppose i would pay someone to design my website with the info i provide. Then get a domain name and pay for hosting. So there i have my site. Now how do i get my site to accept payments from a credit card? How does that whole thing work? Would i have a company do it for me and pay a certain percentage of the sales to them for providing the service? Would that company be sending me a check every month? any info anyone could provide would be most appreciated. thanks in advance! |

i do not have the answers you seek but maybe a little more info would help those who know.....
such as: what type of a site are you wishing to run, one that sells goods and you use the site to proecess orders? a site the has users pay to access or view content ie, a porn site with a pay members only area. answering them 2 questions with as much info as possible might help in getting an answer you need.

You would go through a 3rd party vendor for your credit card processing. You'll wind up paying about 2% or so of each transaction in credit card fees, as well as some sort of static fees on your bill. Some vendors provide you with the raw code for the shift to a pay site. That's pretty much my knowledge on it all.
Hope that part helps. |

actually im interested in finding out how it works for both kinds of sites. a site where i can sell goods to somone and a site where one would have to pay to access the site. (like a porn site, although a porn site is not what i had in mind. )

Or maybe even Yahooshore? Hopefully someone better at this than I am can chine in and lend some more help or suggestions. |
