Browser help, Mozilla vs. IE
Ok heres the deal, I used Mozilla for a little while and LOVED IT, its like 200x better than IE but with one exception, this being that you cant view some movies like mpegs etc and BitTorrents wont link properly, instead of DLing like they should....it links me to a page filled with the ascii code for the DL. So my question is... anyone have a link to a page where i can get a majority of the plug-ins needed for Mozilla and/or Firefox and some testimonials for firefox compared to mozilla, i cant decide if i wanna try firefox or not.
thanks in advance. p.s. yes i know about Opera but im morally against paying for an internet browser, i'll donate, but not buy   |
OK, if torrents don't work right, check your MIME settings and remove torents from it. I'm using Mozilla Firefox (and have used Mozilla in the past) and have it set so that torrents are automatically opened by my bittorrent program.
Regarding plugins: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/en-AU/windows.html |
I think the problem with the mpg file is that those files are erroneous. Mozilla uses AFAIK the header only for file identification, so if the header says its a text file mozilla opens it as text file. this is the way every browser should behave! IE ignores the header and uses the file extension for identifikation.

Firefox has also added some new ways to assist with that (I can't remember if it was after the FFx 0.8 release or not). Note that the file is stll correct, even if it is ascii code. If you save the file with the proper extension, it will still work fine. |

So if i were to copy/paste the ascii code into a txt file then change the file extension to a torrent it would still work? |

I actually doubt the text, copy/pasted, would work.
You can right click the link, save as, then open the file on disk however. This is how I usually use torrents and movies anyhow. (save them to pub/temp/incoming). |
got it working, it was the MIME settings =) thx ya'll
