wav recorder

i have some tapes i want to put on cd. so i bought a double male 1/8 inch stereo cable that i'm gonna plug into the headphone jack of the radio and into my 'line in' on my soundcard.

problem now being, windows sound recorder only does 1 minute. is there a good free program that allows for the recording of wav files that records like up to 30 minute? or better yet, no time limit?

thanks in advance

Adobe Audtion (used to be called Cool Edit) should do the trick for you. There is a 30 day trial available here:

...after 30 days yer on your own tho, but this should get you started anyway. Good Luck.

Look for a program called Audacity. Completely free, and should do the job just fine.

Sound recorder will go past 1 minute if you open a file that's longer than 1 minute, and then record over it. A pain, yes, but it works.

on my soundcard (soundblaster), there's a built-in "creative recorder". pretty simple to use and will record for *i think* as long as you have hard drive space.... i've recorded shit off the net (live radio broadcasts) with no problems. the longest recording i've done so far with that program is 15 minutes.

i suggest you check and see if your soundcard's software has the capability.
