Building New Comp.
Ok im building a new comp. Here is what im looken for. I already have a Processor. Already have all drives. I got a PSU but ill probly buy a case with a PSU so thats not a problem. Im looken for a Motherboard that will fit my Processor.
My Processor is a Celeron 2.2 GHz, mPGA478, Chipset 845GL Now I need a motherboard that will fit that. Has to have at least 1 agp and 1 or 2 pci slots depending weather it has onboard sound or not. Id prefer 2 pci over onboard sound. If you guys could help me it would be great. Thanks |

One thing thats always a help for me is to go to NewEgg and look at the motherboards for the processor you have and compare the reviews for the boards. I do this on a lot of computer hardware, its always been a pretty big help. Take it (and almost all computer advice) with a grain of salt though.

Almost any current mobo based on an Intel 845 family, 848, 865, or 875 chipset should be able to seat that chip...
Your description is off a bit..."My Processor is a Celeron 2.2 GHz, mPGA478, Chipset 845GL"...the chipset is the guts of the motherboard, not part of the processor. Here's a rather nice one which will seat your chip (I looked) and I can recommend it since my company carries it... http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...el=845PE_Neo-L Here's an even nicer one. http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...=865PE_Neo2-LS Either should be right around $100. |

For your processor you will need the grease and also a heatsink/fan.
As for picking your video card,Toms hardware guide compares the video card cost to average frames per second. The article is getting a bit old so prices are going to be much different then what they used. Also as Sailor said, before you buy anything hop on over to newegg and check out the reviews other people have left.

Yes you will need thermal grease when putting the processor into the new mobo, use Artic Silver 5.
If that's all the money you are willing to spend on a video card, then a 5700 Ultra or a Radeon 9600 XT/Pro is fine, however don't take the cheap way out and buy a Geforce 5200, the 5200 series is horrible.
