Calling all Gnoppix users...
Hey all,
I just downloaded Gnoppix 0.6.0 RC2 and burned it as an ISO to a CD-R. I booted from the CD and chose the default run. When it gets to the language selection, it apparently hangs. I can't use the keyboard to choose the language. No mouse either. I did try the CheatCodes for tricky hardware creatdev lang=us , with no success. I have also tried a USB and PS/2 keyboard in an attempt to get around the problem, with no avail. I'm running a compaq presario 2135us and I have been told by others that this is a strange problem. Any advice? -SF |

unfortunatel;y I've never tried Gnoppix, so I can't offer any advice, but depending on what you're looking to use it for you might want to check out Knoppix. Gnoppix uses the Gnome desktop environment and Knoppix uses KDE.
If you're trying to use Gnoppix specifically because it has Gnome though then I'm afraid I can't offer much more advice

Thanks for your help, I am going to try to get Knoppix. I ran Gnoppix on 2 other computers and they didn't have a problem with it at all. I think it's the keyboard on this notebook that is causing the problem, it is USB and it may not have initialized the drivers correctly when it started up. I am going to try another keyboard to see if that helps, but all in all, I can't carry around a 2nd keyboard with my notebook, just to boot into linux with.
Hopefully, I'll find more cheat-codes for the command line startup that may help to fix the keyboard issue. -SF |
