breaking up my network load
Ok here is my problem i run allot of connections with Bit torrent and my it is overloading my connection and my local area connection keeps getting disconnected when it gets to many connections.
Is there a way that i can get a second NIC in my system and have it break up the connections over each one equally? Any ideas? |
What service are you using (DSL, Cable, Dial-Up, Satellite, etc.)?
What I found is that the upload rates is what was keeping my network at home so slow, not the download rates. I just capped my Bittorent applications at a small upload rate, and the network cleared right up. |
Yeah, upload rates are definately the bitch of BitTorrent. I had a linksys router that would freeze up when I was running a few downloads. Like he said turn the upload speed down a bit and you shouldn't have any troubles. As to your extra NIC question there is but it would be a bit of work. You would have to use something called BAP (Bandwidth Allocation Protocol) which comes with 2000 Server, only problem is if it is causing your router to freeze even BAP isn't going to save you

hmmm ok
lets see 3072000 bps down 256000 bps up i have the upload capped at 17 kps (just over 50% of my upload) ill reduce it further and see if it helps |
