Leo's leaving TechTV
Link here
After nearly ten years, four owners, well over 2000 live TV shows, lots of laughs, a few tears, and meeting many many wonderful people, my time at TechTV has come to an end. I could tell so many stories about the talented, committed, hard working, and hard partying people I've worked with there. Each and every one of them will always have a special place in my life . It was with great sadness that I walked out the studio door for the last time last night. The reasons for my leaving are complicated. As I posted here a few weeks ago, management and I had come to a very satisfactory agreement about a new work schedule and salary, but at the last minute TechTV's outgoing owner, Vulcan Ventures, insisted that I sign away all claims to shares they had given me some years ago. I was unwilling to do so, and they held my job as hostage. My leaving has nothing to do whatever with G4 or Comcast. In fact, I'm very sorry that I won't be around to participate in the transition. I've already contacted G4 to let them know I'd be glad to continue working at the new channel once they take over and I hope that I'll get that chance. Fortunately I still have a great job at KFI, a sweet book contract with Que, this thriving web site, and many requests for speeches and other appearances. My family will not starve, and I will be keeping very busy no matter what happens. Call for Help will continue on the air without me. George Crowe, Dan Mitchell, Fawn Luu, Roger Chang, Cat Schwartz, and Ian the new guy, whose last name I still can't spell, are still there working their tails off to do the best show on TechTV for the least amount of money. Nicole Guilfoyle and Rich Miglozzi are still slaving away to make the web site the best resource ever. Steve Porter, Rob D'Arcy, Bill Coen, Josh Villegas, Raevon Armand, Deb Croback, Jon Martin, Greg Tremelling, Brett, Fatty Matty, David Chung, Jim Smith and the best studio crew in the world are still there keeping things running light without overbyte. Please keep watching. For the second time in as many weeks I find myself saying goodbye. My spirits were buoyed with the hundreds of wonderful messages I got last week. It's so gratifying to know that the work we've done has made such a big difference in so many people's lives. With apologies to Lou Gehrig, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I won't be on TV for a little while. But I do hope we'll see each other again on the small screen some day. Until then, thanks for an incredible 10 years. I'll miss you. |
Man that is some shit. I generally am annoyed by the guy, but it's sad to see him go. What about Patrick Norton?
|
Bah that sucks, Really like Leo. He always does a pretty good job explaining things so anyone with varied levels of pc experience could understand it.
|
Thats a sad one, though I have not watched that channel since I moved, its still wierd to know he is not going to be on. I think Patrick Norton does a really good job though and should fill his shoes quite well. Also, as I am obviously behind from not watching it, where the hell did the original call for help guy go to? the lockergnome or something.
|
Bah, he always overacted.
He knew his shit but they could find some really funny, yound nerd to take his place in a second. |

Was it me or did anyone get the vibe that he was this dirty old man? Constantly flirting with Jessica and Sarah (having her walk on him with her pink boots????). Personally, I thought he was OK with the tech advice. What I liked most was that he thought he jokes were funny. Him trying to convince the audience that he was funny was fifty times funnier than the joke he just made. Plus, he is ten fold better than that ass clown Kevin Rose. (How he got a babe like Sarah is beyond me)

Leo would be much better with a funny/willing co-anchor. |

When Kate left and Patrick took over, a lot of the sillyness seemed to go away, but patrick has loosened up from his first days as cohost. Either way it's still sad to hear that Leo's leaving. He definitely made things easier for non-computer-literate people to learn how to use their computers. |
I liked Leo, but that network has sucked big time for 2 years. I wish they would have just left well enough alone.

As much as I found Leo annoying as hell when I first started watching some of his shows, I slowly gerw accustomed to his bad jokes, awful dancing, and dirty old man comments. I probably won't really miss him in any way, but it sucks that he had to leave the network on the terms that he did. |
Sad to see Leo go. I like him. He was a little crazy but he always seemed to keep the show flowing. And I miss Kate as well. There was another thread about the babes from TechTV posing for Playboy. Kate got very mixed reviews in that thread. I always thought she was hot, and I couldn't figure out why.
Will be interesting to see what TechTV morphs into now that it has been sold. |
I too will be sad to see Leo go. He's always been the host I knew, so it won't feel quite right without him. His voices were really funny and extremely well done.

All my favorite shows, and all my favorite people on Tech tv have left :( The only person left from the zdtv days is Michaela Pereira. I miss Internet tonight, Silicon Spin(the concept, at least) Now all that's left is young sexy geeks, which annoy me.
