Case Temp. Question

Here's a stupid question: If you have a hot case, why not just leave the case open? WOuldn't this solve the problem? Just wondering. Thanks and cheers

it's been done, and it generally works, if your only goal is to keep the temperature below dangerous levels. The trick is, you can usually get cooler temps with a proper cooling scheme and a closed case than you can by opening up the case. Plus, more dust can get in the case, it's more likely that something or someone will touch the stuff inside while the computer is on, etc.

It ruins your air circulation. Just put in a couple of fans in the proper position and your temps shouldn't be very high.

Plus there is also the risk of accidentally damaging your components if the case door is off.

Yeah, and if the case is open, it just looks bad.

Because I have cats, two of them.

Yeah, not a good thing when i have the case off a computer, walk out of the room and come back to find my long haired can laying ontop of the motherboard b/c the case is on its side. If its standing, he will be standing in the case looking around....

Luckily my shithead cats stay away from the computer in general. They are too busy knocking over any cup that has any amount of water (water only, they don't care about other liquids) in it.

Keeping that in mind. I need to keep drinks a safe distance from the computer. There is a fan on the top of the case so if a spill happened in the right spot it would fall through the fan vent.
