Digital Camera: Sony 5.0 meg DSC P92 - Advice
Here is the Camera, I'm looking at....
http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/sony...2-reviews.html I've been saving up money for a digital camera, and a deal caught my eye today. The above camera was at Best Buy, an open product for $259.99. It's missing batteries (no biggie) and memmory (I'd have to upgrade anyways). I don't need a digitial camera. I think it would be neet to capture memories and to do some artisitic stuff and submit it to local zines and stuff. I'm a thrifty guy (as a college student who is working his way through school), and have $330 set aside for a camera. My friend did a lot of reseach a while back and got a Nikon at 2.0 meg. He loves it. I wanted something that I wouldn't have to worry about mega pixels (quality) getting in the way of submitting a photo for publication. The Nikons are cool. I'm unfammiliar with Sony's camera. What do you think? Last edited by Randerolf; 03-15-2004 at 04:17 PM.. |

I'm not a fan of Sony camera's I don't like the colors that come from their CCD's.
The nikon, olympus, and canon, CCD's have some of the best color and sharpness. I have an olympus 2020Z 2.1mp king of the hill a few years back. Wife took a picture of a rose with snow on it, blew it up to 20x30 and it looks great.

I would try to save a couple hundred more to get the DSC-F717. I recently upgraded from a Sony Cybershot DSC-P72 and am very satisfied to say the least. Not sure if we're supposed to post this, but at Circuit City they're clearancing the F717's for $479. Some were able to pricematch to other retailers at $439.
My $.02

is that one of the sonys that projects the laser pattern if the conditions are low light/really dark... it helps it focus... but I find it really rude... depending on the situation... if other people are trying to film or take pictures, and its just plain rude and distracting...

Pass!!! my dad entier business is CCDs the part that captures the picture, like the film... it is well known in his group that sony uses the cheapest CCDs of any camera manufacturer... they try to make up for this by pairing it with a Faster F stop on the lens. dont be fooled... stick to a well known camera brand... i mean would you buy a sony film camera?
