Need WIN 2000 slideshow software
I need a simple slideshow program for 300+ jpg files. I have found some on cnet and shareware. com that are slideshow programs but all create a executable and on my semi-old laptop that really stresses the system. I used to have a few very simple file viewing programs that would run a simple slideshow. But now all the current software all seems too complex for what I need. Don't need transitions, or music. Just a continuous repeating slideshow.
Thanks in advance. |

I find that this program often works very well for slideshow needs.
http://www.freshdevices.com/slide_show_software.html "Fresh View", just be sure to disable the slideshow effects it defaults to use, for I find them useless.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that later. I d/l'ed a trial version on ACDsee and that worked pretty good. Still was more than I need but at least it didn't freak out my PC. I probably d/l'ed 6-8 different files tonight, a few flat out didn't work. A couple more just were too weird, odd ball interfaces, non-intuitive, etc. And some were far too robust. ACDsee is more than I need but its a well crafted peice of software and is somewhat easy to use. I think I may have had an early version a few years ago, I know its been around. Might actually buy it after the trial period.

If you really need a basic image viewer, with only a few bells and whistles, try Slowview from http://slowview.at
Its nowhere as advanced as ACDsee or irfanview, but it does its job very well. It shouldn't be to hard to set up the slideshow, because the options consist of a slider to set the amount of time between images, which direction you want it to go (sequentially up, down, or random), and whether to start over again when it finishes a directory. The worst part of the program, though, is when you have a large directory of images. If you have preview mode set on (start program and hit Enter), then it will load and cache all the images in the open directory. If you don't have it on preview mode, then it will load each image as it come in the slideshow. You can do other stuff with the program, like batch image conversions (bmp to gif, gif to jpg, etc), but its main purpose is to just view images outside of your internet browser, and to perform slideshow duties. edit: oh yeah, and its FREE FREE FREE!!!
