Help me build a network of sorts...

Like some people I'm gonna get Roadrunner cable net connection so that I can have uninterrupted online playing time. The only problem is from what I understand, unless I wanna pay a hell of alot more, I'm gonna need to get my own router to connect my pc and my ps2 to the same net source.
I haven't really done much of this in the past so what I guess I need is a list of some of the stuf I'm gonna need, in particular if someone can suggest a decent router for abotu 50 to about 60 bucks.
Also anything else you think I should know or that I shouldn't worry about please let me know.

Do I even need to spend some much?

wired or [<a href="http://www.linksys.com/splash/gameadapters_splash.asp" target="_blank">wireless</a>]?

you can get a pretty decent wireless G router for ~$60 (+plus the cost of the ps2 wireless adapter), and a decent wireless B or non-wireless router for ~$20-30. I like netgear and linksys equipment, but I haven't had any real problems with d-link or smc either.

I really liked D-link's older networking equipment, but anymore their routers/switches have gone the way of the cheap materials, in my opinion.

im not trying to bash d-link. They seem pretty decent. I just own a switch back from when they actually used metal, and I wish they continued that trend. They just seem sturdier.

i have to second the netgear and linksys. They are both a good medium between price and quality..

another thing you might think about if you are running WindowsXP (or linux), would be to look into Net Sharing. A feature where windowsXP can be the router for the cost of an extra network card. it won't be as expandable as a router, and probably no where near as elegant solution, but it is another possibility.
