free web hosting
Does anyone know a good site where they offer a free web hosting? I tried http://50megs.com and it worked nicely until I found out that the deal is only valid for 14 days and I need the free space a lot longer than that of course! so... any suggestions you guys? :hmm:

//moving to computer forum...
-------- OK, now that we're in the proper forum... I will ask you to do 2 things: 1. more details - what kind of stuff do you want to use the host for? 2. do a http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/images/...top_search.gif using free AND host as your search terms, this topic has been discussed x times already. When you can do #1, I can maybe help more, k? :) |
argh! sorry! I was in such a hurry that I forgot to search for old threads on the same subject before I posted my own!

I really feel like decent free web hosting is a thing of the past. Back in the day sites like Tripod and Angelfire were great, until the were destroyed by overuse of ad inclusion, "communities", and all that other crap.
Decent hosting is cheap these days. I am hosted at www.p4host.com and am very happy. I pay $12 quarterly and have 300mb's of space, 12gigs of transfers a month, up to 999 unique email addresses at my domain, and up to 2 domains (to name a few benefits). Its very easy to use as well. I know you asked for free, but I really believe that you get what you pay for, and free gets you pretty much junk. |
My hosting is through DB Multimedia, I have 5gigs of webspace and 7 gigs of transfer per month. ...and it has every known option that you would ever consider. $5.25 a month, paid a year at a time, and if you pay via paypal, they register your domain for free!

do you have a high speed connection? if so there is software out there you can download and host the files from your computer. I use Abyss Web Server, it's really simple to use, and in combination with a dynamic dns setup from a place like dyndns.org you have something pretty simple and easy to set up and nobody has to know that you're hosting it from home.

But if you pay for your own web hotel then it's possible to post nude pics......erhh right? :hmm: |
Ok, so you want to host some 'porn'...
That makes it a bit easier, if that's *all* you plan on using the host for. (see, there's a reason I asked for more details about what you wanted to host..) For hotlinking pics, I use European Tripod accounts. So long as the traffic is not 'extreme' it's pretty reliable. But don't be upset if they kill your account(s), it does happen. Then just make another one ;) you can also try web1000, i'm not sure if they allow hotlinking or not tho. If you *don't* need hotlinking, the options are much more plentiful. As far as paid hosting allowing nude pics or not, depends on the TOS...but i think some of the free 'adult' hosts also have pay options..but keep in mind, if your content is 'copyrighted' and you do not own that copyright, that's pretty much against the rules anywheres. It's just a matter of whether you want to take the chance of them notising it or not. |
I want to have the option to hotlink as well so I'll just try looking for a site that'll allow me that as well
|
Nancy, what ISP do you use? Most of the Danish ones offer at least 10MB free webspace, and you can both hotlink and host porn, I think. Unless it's copyrighted, of course. Then they might take it down. Is is pictures you've taken yourself, or are they just collections from all over the web?

which ISP do you use?? |
web1000 allows adult images, (read the compare and T&C pages) however nothing thats illegal where they host and no child porn... they will report you if you post this.
Does it allow PHP? |
I personally have a 1and1 account, but I know a few people who have asphost accounts, and they like it.
|
You should have signed up at 1and1.com
