Video Problems

When playing certain downloaded video clips, it does not allow me to fastforward or skip ahead. It happened with an .asf file but I am pretty sure it has happened with .mpeg as well.

Any ideas on what would cause this?

That's just the way some media players handle certain formats.
Try something like MPC.

It is a very good alternative media player. Small and functional.
As an added bonus it can also handle quicktime and realmedia.
