Mac OS XI
I was wondering when Mac OS XI would be coming out, or when OS X would be totally revamped much like the jump from OS 9 to X. I'd like to buy a mac, but don't want to deal with the transition for at least another 5 years.

The last big revamp was from OS 10.2.8 to 10.3, and there were very few changes introduced that the average user can see.
And this was for a DAMN good reason... very few changes were needed. OS X represents a unique design philosophy that balances power with simplicity that no other OS offers. It takes a few months to learn the ins and outs of what it really has to offer in terms of the software you can get with it, but its well worth the transition. I could never see myself switching back to linux ever again.

Apple has done the major OS switch only once before, when it switched over to PPC hardware. They have built this OS for the future by implementing different high level code bases in it (Carbon and Cocoa).
I wouldn't worry about it changin in the near future, say 10 to 15 years.
