I believe it was 800 yards ?
I saw a special on it on TLC. They stated it was like hurling a large invisible fireball at someone. And no matter how well you prepare yourself mentally, the brain will still react, no matter what. Very intense tech. edit - Oops. Quote:

Ive been reading material I found from the "Department of Defense's Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate" and theres some pretty scary stuff there. I've already seen the noise makers (beam of super high sound to drive crowds away), but Ive found research papers and patents for some other things.. Like the RPG that dispenses "“crowd control agents, biological agents, [and] chemical agents...”

Do a search on Picatinny Arsenal. It's a weapons research facility here in NJ that's been working on non lethal weapons for some time now. They've got everything from glue guns & web shooters, to energy, biological, and microwave weapons.
I read a good article a couple of years ago about several of the potential wepon systems coming out of there but for the life of me I can't find it doing any searches. |
I still want a bean bag shot gun. Those are about the coolest non-lethal toys I have seen.
|
all this and no flying car in the garage? if somehow you could figure out how to kill a lot of people w/a flying car... that's when you'd start to see some results.

The sensation is supposed to be similar to touching a 100 watt lightbulb, so I suspect it would do a wonder on a crowd of angry people.
Another good one is the sonic device that resonates at the frequency of your bowels. Makes you nautious and totally uninterested in doing anything. The malodorants division is pretty cool too. |
700 yards. You can kill someone with an assault rifle from about 800.

an article was done on this thing a few months back in PopSci and the writer actually got to take it for a "test run" if you will and said he was amazed at how quickly it made you just want to get the F%^K out of the way

I just say throw a stick of C-4.

I read an article on a webpage a while back that said the troops in Iraq had a new sort of beam that would heat up their skin. This was a first hand account of the experience. I know it's hard to believe but listen to what the guy said. There were dozens of witnesses (INCLUDING U.S. soldiers) that affirmed to what happened.
The guy basically said that the beam MELTED human skin. He said it caught houses on fire, melted his friends until their skin boiled, and was powerful enough to melt metal. He said it was similar to a constant bolt of lightning, and that the U.S. troops pleaded for the Iraqi forces to give up, or else they would have to use the beam. The Iraqi's wouldn't stop being "hostile" or whatever so the US Troops busted out the lightning gun and melted the motherfuckers.....we're talking blisters, melting of skin and hair, the whole shebang....... I'll try my hardest to find the webpage (it has first person accounts of this and everything). Apparently, the government even admitted to having such weaponry! |

I prefer teh vortex gun. Haven't seen much on it for a few years, but it uses a C4 shaped charge to generate a ring of air spinning at supersonic speeds. They said it felt like being hit with a wet blanket at 50mph. If I remember, atomized chemical agents could be added to the ring of air, allowing it to disperse pepper spray or tear gas on impact. The great thing is that, while it will do little more than stun and knock over a soft (human) target, it could break down doors from a few hundred yards away and push vehicles off course at the same range.

Nothing like a microwave the size of a HumVee.
|
While I was in college my friends and I produced a cube 50cm cube onside had a rubber covering and the oppisite side had a 10cm hole in the center.
If we hit the rubber end in the center we could blow out a candle at 30m. It is not very high tech but it worked so the military stuff rules!!! It was a bitch to aim though... I blame the wind and the school board for not let letting play with fire inside their school. |
Active Denial?
Isn't that a couple Ma Dueces stuck on the back of an NC-2 power cart? |

Tee hee
http://webindia123.com/news/showdeta...0986&cat=World Now, a gun that can stun an entire crowd! In another experiment, engineers at Xtreme Alternative Defense Systems (XADS), based in Indiana, have made a different kind of wireless weapon. Instead of using fibers, the Close Quarters Shock Rifle projects an ionised gas, or plasma, towards the target, producing a conducting channel. It can also interfere with electronic ignition systems and stop vehicles. The gun has been designed for the US Marine Corps to use for crowd control and security purposes and is due out next year. It is based on early, unwieldy technology and has a range of only 3 meters, but an operator can debilitate multiple targets by sweeping it across them. |
