ability to add comments to personal website

ok,

so im making a personal web log site with HTML..

and my friend said to add something so people can leave comments for every entry i add... kind of like what xanga does...

anyone know any easy scripts i can use to add commenting ability to my site??

im looking for something, where i can edit/configure every aspect, detail, and scheme of theme of the comment site... so itll match and look exactly like my site... just that multiple people can add entries into 1 page...

with different page for each comments per entry.. :P

slashcode? You want blog scripts, a guestbook?

check out slashcode. Based on Slashdot.org, it allows topics to be posted, then comments...kinda like TFP, but more open in what's allowed.

B2 and MovableType are pretty much the defacto standards.

What you are looking for is blogging software. Its a bit more complex than HTML though. They run off of a mySQL backend, and use either PHP or Perl to dynamically generate each page.

If you want to add some simple features while keeping your site your "own". Just learn perl or php. It's real simple, and you'll always have the look/control you want.

Though, with learning those, you'll also want to learn some sql, as you'll either be using mysql or postgres.

It's good stuff, it's fun, and it's relatively easy too

Moveable type, blogging software, a decent cms, they're all widely available, and most free, which is great. But you have a great opportunity to learn something here too.

Just my 2 bits.
