Barton 2500+ Vcore

I have my new system setup (Abit Nf7-S V2, Barton 2500, Geil 1 Gig DDR400) and the proc doesn't want to hit 200 FBS with an 11X multiplier without a major jump in Vcore. The proc is "stable" at 2200 MHZ but the VCore has to be set around 1.80/1.85 to get it into Windows. It is Prime 95 stable for about two hours before eating it, at 2 GHz it is Prime 95 stable for 24 hrs.

That being said the temps are around 37.5 C when doing office related stuff and they hit low/mid 40's when running prime and UT2004. Will having a higher Vcore hurt my system if the temps are low or will it just have a much shorter life span ?

it shouldn't effect the system as a whole, but will probably reduce the life of the processor

You may want to poke around on the overclockers.com forums, they will probably know more about it

raising the vcore definitely decreases the life of your processor and/or motherboard. unfortunately, most Barton 2500+ come locked nowadays, so the multiplier has to be left at 11x. So raising the vcore is mandatory if you want to get to 3200+ levels. Ah well.
