Best FREE P2P flie sharing?
I have used Mozilla and Kazza and I am pretty dissapointed with both. They both slowed my computer down to a crawl. After using both for a week or two ad aware found almost 2000 different files.
What free p2p prog do yall use? Is there one that dosent have a ton of spyware and pop ups that a lot of people use? |
KaZaA Lite
Hard to find since most of the servers are shut down but if you find it, it is nice. It is essentially KaZaA without popups/spyware/adware/ads |
Mozilla is a web browser... not a P2P program... but ya kazaa lite is good... also try Direct connect...

If you're gonna use Kazaa make sure it's the version listed below. Just click.
Kazaa Lite K++ Edition |
Bittorrent all the way! Takes a little more work and knowledge.. but its far superior to Kazaa... at least I think so.
|
IRC & FTP :D

Bittorrent is good, but as there are shitlodes of different clients out there, which would you guys recommend as being less bloatzy than the rest, based on a Win32 environment.
Some of my personal faves so far are Azureus and NovaTorrent. |
I want to use CuteFTP and mIRC but it is pretty daunting to get started. SiN do you know where I can learn how to get started?
|
I use Azureus exclusively... seems to be stable and have the most information available when I want to see progress...
|
IRC and FTP is good if you like waiting to maybe get the file. I prefer emule where you wait and definitely get the file. Torrent is good only if there are lots of seeds. Torrents can dry up and die far too easily in my opinion. Kazaa K++ is good but there are tons of viruses and bogus song files. Soulseek is my preferred option for music.

I prefer DC++ and Kazaa lite.
|
I like most mentioned above, kazzaa lite is good for music, mIRC is better for movies and apps, and eMule is good for all kinds of things... eMule tho, doesnt have many servers in the US so youll have to connect to a European server in order to use it, also need to open some ports on your router...
|
some IRC search engines (xdcc) like
packetnews.com ircspy.com in combination with mIRC are also handy |
I use TheSHAD0W's experimental bittorrent client(http://bt.degreez.net/).. never had a problem with it and shows all the info on the torrent you need to know
|
just an fyi, i know someone who got an FBI/Fed/RIAA letter from using torrent so do not think just cause it isnt Kazaa they are not watching.
|
bittorrent for porn and non $$AA owned materials.
Usenet for everything IRC for everything eMule for porn Kazaalite for sick porn and songs. |
imesh? www.imesh.com goes uber fast.
|
last time i checked imesh came with adware/spyware.. best search for a 'clean imesh'. i may be out of touch these days though.
|
eMule is very good for movies and games.
|
Irc is good, but there's a learning curve. If you think about it, find a good web page that explains file transfers.
eMule is good, but a bit slower than Kazaa if you're thinking Kazaa, try and get K++/Kazaa Lite, they don't inlcude the spyware that the Media Desktop (full version) contains. |
limewire :) not a good selection but at least it doesnt bog your system down and there isnt any bloatware.

emule is the best one that I've used so far! It's as easy to use as kazaa, it has no bloatware, and best of all you can find literally any file you want!!!
I'm talking any song, movie, or even dos game! Only downside is that some files can take a few days to finish and if your ISP has you on an upload cap it can get pretty dicey! |
Once you get the hang of it, IRC is pretty easy to use. Sure, it takes more patience than P2P clients do, and maybe its just the geek in me, but I like it better. I just queue up a few things and leave my computer on while I sleep. By the time I wake up, everything is done.

1 answer to eDonkey, gnutella, gnutella2, torrent, etc.
http://www.shareaza.com/ I didn't check, but it prolly comes with spyware (running Ad-Aware right now since I thought about it). However, the program is nice. //Edit: Didn't find spyware related to this program that I can see. |

When I am at school I use Ares (because everything is blocked here) and at home I use Kazaa Lite
|
Soulseek is all right.
but there are times when the server is down. |
dc++ all the way.
well if you share enough to get into the good hubs that is. 10 gig or so get's you into quite a few hubs around 30 get's you into some great ones. 150 will get you in nearly anywear(I share 160 so Iv'e never gotten into those wacky 200 or 500+ hubs). But really small hubs are the best, much easier getting slots. also the best and most anonymous p2p system is a friend with a dvd burner. |
I only use soulseek for music. I love how you can choose to download the whole folder instead of each individual song. It's not as fast as kazaa lite though. I also have no idea how "safe and anonymous" soulseek is. If anyone knows, please let me know.
I use kazaa lite for porn. I really like it for porn. My old computer crashed 5 days before I built my current one so I lost 5 years worth of downloaded porn. Had an awesome collection too. |
Where do you IRC users go to get stuff? Which channels on which networks are good?
|
I use mIRC for downloading TV shows. The server I use is irchighway.net and I use the following channels:
#TV-Central #download-friends #24-Central #survivor-central There might not be hyphens in the channel names, but I'm not at home so I can't check. |
Be carefull everyone. A guy at uni got fined $10000 australian yesterday for downloading from Kazaa. Just thought I would pass on the warning.

more like $6000 USD,
anyway. JStrider OMG your school block irc, what the hell for. thats like closing a library cause one book might contain child porn. IRC is like the best for info. im researching some stuff for a paper and i can go on and chat about stuff, learn about good books to check out, different approaches to try. there are about 100million chat rooms and maybe .02% are used for illegal means, while 20-30% are incredibly helpful for people like me doing research. thats just retarded to block irc. |
BTW, if you have any problems finding a copy of kazaa lite k++ or some other p2p programs, try
http://www.oldversion.com/ |
eMule is the best. You can find anything in emule.
|
I've stopped using kazaa and only use soulseek now. I changed the settings so that only people in my list can download from me. Whenever I d/l off someone new, I add them to my list.
Lots of people like emule, but I don't. It just seems too slow. It also seemed to be sucking up most of my bandwidth even though I was only downloading stuff from there at about 30KB/s. I used a modem speed test site and while I had emule open, it was only saying that I had 80KB/s. Once I closed it, I had about 1MB/s |
For those who use a p2p or any software to obtain what the government might say is "objectional material." Here is a nice little tool to keep those pig fuckers off your back. http://methlabs.org/methlabs.htm. Download peerguardian.
Edit oh man I just brough back a 6 month old thread im retarded. |
