Webcam trouble
I'm wondering if anyone could help me figure this out.
I've been trying to get Yahoo Messenger to work with my webcam. It has worked with it before, but apparently there is a problem with either two hardware devices, or with a driver issue. It's a Dell Dimension 4400, running on Windows XP Pro. The cam is a Creative CT6840 Model webcam. I can use the cam with Creative's own software, but when I launch Yahoo Messenger and try to use the cam, YIM is unable to initialize the cam, and crashes. It doesn't present an error message, just dies. I've to reboot to machine before I can try again, as I am unable to kill the process (YIM). My computer has a Radeon 9000 VIVO for a gfx card, and it also has a Hauppauge WinTV card that I use for hooking my Playstation to the comp. Also, I'm having a hard time finding a way to replace Creative's WDM drivers with VFW drivers, as YIM apparently only supports VFW. Currently I am thinking that the reason YIM crashes is because it tries to initialize the WinTV card, or Radeon, instead of the Creative webcam via USB. Man, this sounds messy...but...any ideas? :( |
