Best Uptime on a system.

We all know how cool having a big uptime makes you and the effects it has on your genitalia. Post your best uptime on a system and it's basic specs.

This system is my web storage and misc stuff and is almost 4.5 years old. It is an Emachines 366i2 and has never had a breakdown, only upgrades.

OS-[Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 3 (5.0 - 2195)]-
Up Time-[15w 1d 6h 36m 19s]-
CPU-[1-Intel P2 Celeron, 367MHz, 128KB (100% Load)]-
Memory-[Usage: 93/128MB (72.66%)]-
Video Card-[Headless with VNC administration]
Resolution-[800 x 600]-
Total Space Free-[1.86Gb out of 12.64Gb]-

I'm impressed with 15 weeks 1 day (106 days) on such an ancient machine, and an emachines at that. This was the first computer of my own I got on the web with and it's still rolling strong, cranking out better uptimes than my 1.8 Ghz . How about yours?

My work's dns/mail/misc website server:

[paulh@newdns paulh]$ uptime
6:57pm up 119 days, 18:17, 1 user, load average: 0.20, 0.07, 0.02
[paulh@newdns paulh]$

That's prolly the best at this point cause everything else has been patched or rebooted just because. My windows boxes usually never make it past Tuesday mornings :-P.

I once read a story about a server somewhere, where they had accidentally put a wall up in front of it. Nobody knew where the thing was for years, and nobody had to know, since it worked fine all the time. Now *that* is uptime.

Always a Linux showoff in every crowd.

That's a nice uptime. Unfortunately I'll never be able to get that high due to the summer weather of Florida knocking out the power every week. I can only pull off good uptimes in winter.

@Dragonlich:

You're correct. It was a Novell server in UNC.

Oh, and that last machine I posted in that thread?

5:15PM up 612 days, 19:46, 0 users, load averages: 0.08, 0.02, 0.01

FreeBSD webserver, P166, 64MB, 2.5GB HDD. And it was active up until a week ago. Now she sits around while we wait to celebrate.

Seriously now, I've seen a couple of (FreeBSD primarily) systems with over 3 years... and there are doubtless many systems around academia that are still running, long since forgotten.

European railway switching network...

According to the OpenVMS for dummies book, it's had an uptime of 27 years, and the last time it went down was because the uptime counter could only handle 10 years.

Runs OpenVMS.

Running a few OpenBSD servers at work that haven't been rebooted in over two years. Quite a stable OS, gotta love it.

My webserver has been up for nearly 180 days now. Remarkable seeing as it is literally taped together, and has no UPS. Im surprised it hasnt been brought down by a power outage.

Its running RedHat 8. I will soon bring it down to switch to Debian since I can no longer support RedHat.

My fileserver has a pretty decent uptime ever since I put it on UPS power:

[skaven@geofront:~]$ uptime
13:08:11 up 75 days, 11:19, 1 user, load average: 0.04, 0.01, 0.00

Specs:
Abit KT7A, T-bred @ 1466Mhz
1G PC133
OS: Slackware 9.1
5x 160G Seagate Barracuda hard drives (4=RAID5, 1=System)

My RAID volume is already almost full, so I'll probably be adding another 8 160G disks in the near future (12x160Gb=1.7Tb + 160Gb parity)

Gotta say that these seagate drives kick ass as far as reliability goes.

WindowsXP machine (my desktop) - I had an uptime of 32 days last month before I decided to reboot, because it was getting slightly unstable.

As for my servers:
9:23AM up 173 days, 18:26, 1 user, load averages: 0.38, 0.16, 0.10
And the others got hit by a power outage recently.

There's no telling what my uptime record is simply for my PC, but I can definitely tell you what it is for AOL Instant Messenger:

15 Days 12 Hours

Almost beat my friends record. So close. She beat me with 16 days on a Hewlett Packard.

15 Days uptime on AIM is a feat, especially if your on-campus internet is unstable.

I realized later that I had installed numerous programs (battlefield: vietnam, desert combat patch, FTP programs, office 2003, etc.) without restarting my computer during that time (the AIM record) so I think I technically won. My computer was getting bogged down at the end due to no restarts and mass program installation and AIM eventually froze. My friend's Hewlett Packard is a browser machine and that's pretty much it. I declare an unofficial victory

I'm more concerned with making sure patches are applied. While you can get away without rebooting on some, you just cant avoid it with kernel related ones.

Having said that I discovered a WinNT box on a customers network with an uptime of 476 days.
