dvd playability

I have a dvd with a concert on it... When i try to play it on my computer it says I need a decoder or something. Also, is there any way to copy the audio to my computer?

thanks

DVD codecs aren't standard as part of the DVD constortium agreements. You can get a DVD ROM drive but the codecs need to be manually installed. Stupid but that's what they did.

Tell me if I am wrong here, but you need a program like WinDVD and such to playback DVD's on a computer, just go to www.download.com and search for DVD playback or something like that and it should play after installing... strange, usually when you buy a DVD ROM drive retail it comes with WinDVD standard or pro... all the ones I have bought have. Yet another reason not to buy OEM...

I have used "Power DVD" extensively on my PC and Laptop. It works pretty good and has a free trial available here:

http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/d...id=1&ProdId=28

Try that and if you like it ....um, I guess you should buy it or something.

In so much as ripping the audio off of the DVD, I think you might be able to do that with ReelDVD. Linky: www.sonic.com But I've never tried it.
