Need suggestions, hanging boot process

I ordered some new stuff the other week. Well, I got it all and hooked everything up yesterday. I was just installing a bunch of programs, had to reboot, and all of a sudden it hangs. It had been running great for a day now, but all of a sudden this shit happened. It'll boot, but it takes a few minutes. It takes a minute to detect all the hardware. Then it goes to the Windows boot screen, and after that it hangs for another minute or so before loading.

Specs:
Win XP SP1
Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2
AMD 3200+
ATI 9800 Pro
Kingston Hyper X PC3200(2x512)
4 Western Digital 80gig SE's
Santa Cruz (sound card)
Vantec 470watt PSU

I've tried everything I can think of. If someone has any suggestions I'm all ears.... Thanks.

On a totally different topic. I wouldn't suggest that anyone ever buy an Enermax PSU. I bought one of their 470 watt PSU's and it wouldn't even power up my PC. And it only had 6 molex connectors, which isn't even enough for all of my stuff. That hunk of shit is going back to NewEgg.

Time for a nap.

Well, I can say with great confidence that SP1 makes your computer start up way slower and shut down MUCH, much slower. It's usually a bigger increase in shutting down time, not necessarily booting time though. That still wouldn't make the hardware detection hang.

PS: I've always heard good things about Enermax PSU's...that's weird. 6 molex connectors is a small amount, though.

I would totally suggest an Enermax. Mine is a 410 watt Enermax. It came with 9 molex connectors. It perfectly powers the following:
Abit NF7-S V2
Athlon XP Barton 2500+
GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 MB
Corsair PC2700 512 MB
2 X 160 GB Maxtor
1 X 120 GB Seagate
1 X 80 GB IBM
1 X 20 GB Western Digital
IDE Controller Card
Zip Drive
Floppy Drive
CyberDrive 48X CD-RW
5 80mm Quad LED fans

I've tried RAIDMAX, POWMAX, ANTEC, and Sparkle PSUs, and Enermax is by far the best I've tried.

Does the problem only occur during boot? Meaning, does everything function normally (normal speed)?
Try running something that demands a lot of your computer like a test or a heavy game or something and see what the performance is then...
Or make an ISO or just copy the content of a disc on to one drive and try to copy it to the others, see how they handle the stress.
Maybe you should check your connectors, I have had something that resembles your problem because my cable wasn't 100% any more.
If that's all allright then it can only be your OS. You might want to try a new clean install and see how that works out.
Then again, I am just thinking out loud here. Maybe someone else will be able to help you better. Good luck and let us know what was the solution once you find it.

I'm beginning to think one of my new HD's, which my OS is installed on, is bad. After it hangs before it detects all the hardware I just noticed my HD clicking twice right after it detects the hardware.... Do you think a bad HD would make the boot process hang?

I'll probably install an OS on another HD just to check, but I won't do that until tomorrow because I feel like shit today.

Relax, some things just don't work correctly.. Right now I can't load all my games. Some say the play disc isn't in the drive, when it is. Norton was all fucked up, and I had to reinstall that. Other than that everything works fine. I burned some stuff, and ripped other shit no problem.
