Newbie to DC++, any tips?
I just downloaded DC++, and like it pretty well (a new hard drive just rose to the top of my priorities ). Just wondering if you guys have any newbie tips for me. I found a new hub list ok, and have added a few favorite channels.
A couple of questions - When I close a connection, and it restarts with another user, does it build on the partial file or start another? I looked in my download folder and it had 2 instances of the same file. Also, can I not download the same file from multiple users at the same time? I know these questions would probably go better in a DC++ specific forum, but I thought I would throw them in while asking for tips. Any tips/info is much appreciated. Also thanks to the users that mentioned this program. |

It builds on partial files if you stop tranferring from a user -- IF you have set the sources to the same file.
If your download folder shows 2 instances of the same file, they won't pick up for each other. What you need to do is find one file you want, say a movie. Then either goto Downloads, right click, and search alternate. Or select the other sources you want to add from search, right click, and in Download there should be a choice for the name of the movie file you started downloading already, if that makes sense. If you want multiple sources for a file though, they need to be the exact same size, and they need to have the same extention. I love DC++ Have so many games and movies now its insane. Tips? Just do what I said, I don't know if I stated it badly, if your confused let me know. I liked DC alot, but when I found out about alternate sources, etc, it made the program 10402304x more useful
