How big is YOUR e-penis?
 

Ok so I'm a member of a few other forums and one in particular is a school related one. by this i mean it's a lot like TFP but hosted on our schools domain. there are at least 2 guys on there that think because they have more posts, they rule the forum, even though they havent been on as long. Through blatant post-whoring they have accumulated over 12000 posts in the past year, and as the number one and number two posters on there they have basically said "My e-penis is vastly larger than yours, bow down to me!" And the sad thing is they actually believe that these postcounts actually matter in the real world. I don't know if I should pity them or just ignore them. Cause it's really sad.

Sorry if I seemed to ramble just needed to rant about it to another board.

hmm.. perhaps they should have been banned like they would on any decent forum?

Or perhaps had their posts moderated on?

If it were my board, and I couldnt ban students, Id just take away titles, sigs, avatars, etc like I do to miscreants on mine...

I even have a special rank for people: Spammer

best to keep those egos in check boys. Id stay away from that forum if I were you, let it die from apathy until someone comes back to fix it properly.

yea, basically there is no real modding, I am a mod of the automotive forum there because i have been an active member for going on 3 years. All I'm allowed to do is edit out spam, off topic threads and posting just to tick people off, I used to be able to delete posts but the admin of the forum took that away form me because people were losing their precious post counts. On that board, people start off with avatars member titles and access to everything, it's the only board i know of with basically no rules, and this had lead to 400,000 posts in about 10000 threads in only 1 year. basically it's a wastebasket of posts. If i didn't have responsibilities to my forum i doubt i would be on there that much.

Also another bad fact about the board is that they allow "gimmicks" basically fake posters created to post about specific things. we had a janet jackson post on there if anyone had seen her half time performance, we have a God gimmick which talks about laying a wrath on the board and it's posters, a Kobe Bryant gimmick which asks people to join his rapists annonymous group, stuff like that, the list goes on and on, i bet right now we have appoximately 150-200 of these gimmick accounts. It's absolutely rediculous.

My postcount here is low. But honestly, pity and ignore. It's the only way. Postcount means nothing.

I agree with some of the above sentiments. The people who really stand out here at TFP do so not because of the number of posts they have made, but because of what they have to offer. Quantity seldom equals quality.
