You're lucky photo-radar never got implemented in Ontario, neoinoakleys. The New Democratic party of Ontario was going to implement cameras along the major highway(s) that would automatically take a photograph of your license plate if you were speeding (so they can send you a ticket in the mail). However, that project got scrapped when the Progressive Conservative party promised to scrap it if they got elected.
You'll never guess who won that year's election...

radar detectors are legal in BC. tho unnecesary.. take the money to pay for it and save it to pay the odd speeding ticket (allthough points on the liscence suck)

10 over the limit.. yesh if your driving in your own area (not a different ccountry) you kinda know where to watch out for them.. not only that most of them arent doing radar.. ive sped past so many cops.. i was doing 80 something in a 60 zone in a truck and passed a cop.. ive done lots of times past them in various vehicles. just pay attention..

yeah, but all it has to do is save you 2-4 times from getting pulled over and then it's paid for itself.

like taylorspl said, speeding doesn't increase the risk of crashing as much as you might think. driving stupid without any awareness for what's going on around you or while multitasking is what is dangerous. i'm actually a better driver when i'm speeding because i pay attention a lot more rather than if i'm just cruising along at 65mph behind someone else... that nearly puts me to sleep.

in europe, on the autobahn, people are more likely to get pulled over for driving in the left lane when not passing than for speeding. damn, i wish it were like that here...

it is a lot harder to evade being pulled over when they do this, but if there is a steady stream of traffic then you're much less likely to get caught because of the 'instant on' mode.

If you're obeying the driving regulations, you have no reason to worry and don't need a detector. Anyway, as speed increases, fuel consumption does too, but NOT proportionately, meaning that even if you reach your destination faster, you still end up using more gas. So obey the speed limit, ok?

Which would be quite helpful, since I assume a radar detector detector is always on, thereby eliminating the problem of cops who "instant on" the laser.

For further input, contact someone from Montana. Seems like I heard speeding tickets were cheap there, because no one could maintain their sanity driving 55 for the length of the trips between cities there.
