Lockups with 802.11b card
I have a Linksys WPC11 Ver.3 PC card and when I go to use it under win 2k pro on my toshiba laptop it locks the pc up within a few sec of booting. It only freezes if the card is inserted. I searched google and saw that it is a comman problem, but what is the fix??? I just reinstalled a clean copy of 2k so I doubt it would be a os problem....
I hope someone here has had tis card and know of a fix for this problem... You can PM me at steveincolumbus on Yahoo if you want. I really want to get this taken care of quick... Thanks |

After your 'clean' install of w2k did you apply the thirty plus 'critical' updates and numerous other patches, hotfixes and driver updates?
Run windows update, spent the several hours applying the updates and I bet that will fix your problem. Or you can try linksys' KB: http://www.linksys.com/support/top10faqs/wpc11/ -bear

ok, well I slipstreamed sp4 into the win2k install disk, I also have ie 6 and media player on the lan so its a rather quick process for updates.....
I have tried the Faq's too no help either.... I called and talked to a Tech at Linksys yesterday and they said they know of the issue and that they were in process of writing a new driver because there is an incompatibility with the Toshiba cardbus contoler for that version of the wireless card.... But yet they will not do anything to resolve that issue, so i will stay away from Linksys, not that I ever liked them, but this isn't the first time for problems..... So i bought a Microsoft card lastnight Thanks though |
