altering PDF files

OK, I read somewhere that there is a program to alter PDF files. But I can't find one anywhere, Any advice?

Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional.

and you can edit PDFs so long as whatever/if any security permissions set allow that.

or, for a much cheaper alternative, check into this:

i have been trying to find out how to edit in adobe prof 6 but to no avail.

that link was very helpful thought

assuming you are not using Acrobat Reader!
which only reads files, hence it's name

with a pdf open in Acrobat Pro, click File -> Document Properties, then click 'Security' on the left.
that will tell you if it's editable or not.

You need Acrobat Writer rather than Reader.
