Indoor antenna for short wave radio
 

I live in a subdivison that does not allow outdoor antennas. Does anyone know of an indoor antenna that would allow me to run either a CB or a short wave radio and get decent reception?

Following the rules for atennaes there isn't one that allows for good indoor use since all the walls around it will absorb the radiowaves.

I would suggest putting it into a tall tree and try to hid it that way.

I imagine you could get decent reception with the antenna inside, provided that there isn't too much metal, etc. in your walls. If it is a typical wood frame home, you might have some success. Unfortunately, I can't suggest one for you.

There are some ideas for hidden antennas here. You can be pretty elusive with outdoor antennas though. If you go to Ace or any hardware store you can find spools of copper wire of varying gauges. The higher gauge, the smaller the wire (you'd probably want something in the 20's). You can make a dipole with it or just string it out because almost anything outdoors is better than the best indoor antenna. However, if you live in a place with fierce winters it probably won't hold up unless it's on the ground. Good luck in whatever you choose to do and remember to tune into 6955 KHz on occasion (the active pirate radio frequency).
