In regards to disk space, that definitely isn't a problem. The error that came up is copied below EXACTLY as it appeared: @ 83% progress:

Does anyone have any input as to what this error means? It obviously is a read error, but I haven't a clue what to do from here. ![]()

Read Error--make sure the disc is clean and unscratched. Especially look about 80% towards the edge--thats where its failing. This isnt necessarily it, but it certainly could be.

Whew, I was actually able to get some flix working. I used DVD Shrink and Nero to burn Dumb and Dumberer. Something weird hapenned though. The disc (Imation(RichohJPNR01-02)4xDVD+R) played in my non-chipped PS2 but not my Apex ad-1200. HUH?!? Can someone explain that? Maybe the ad-1200 doesn't support +R media.

I have been fighting this since last week. I have a Liton LDW-411S burner.
Used DVDXcopy Platnium. Can not get the +R stuff to play in my Toshiba 2109, or my Apex-1200. So I go buy some -R media. Same story. Then I use Nero, disk copy the -RW movie I burned to a virtual image. Then Disk Copy the Virtual Image to another -RW disk. Plays fine in the Apex. Huh? Haven't tried any of this in my PS2. I'll try doing the image to a +RW media tonight and see if the Apex will play it. I found a utility to set the "bookmark" ? on the Liteon disk burner. The options are NORMAL DVD-ROM and DVD+R(W). The DVD-ROM is supposed to be more compatible with my Toshiba. Still haven't gotten that anything to play on it. Let's try to work out a step-by-step to get this to work.

Dragonhawk: I d-loaded the LiteOn 'Booktype' tool and found that this prog doesn't work with the 851s. I think the soon-to-be released firmware for this model will allow 851s users to use the 'Booktype' tool. So, let me get this straight. You burned the movie images from your HD to a blank -RW then burned that disc to another -RW disc and it worked in your ad1200? Like you said, huh? I'm thinking the ad1200's are more compatible with -R/RW media.

I usually use DVD shrink for DVD9 DVD's then Nero 6's "DVD Video" option to burn the output. Nero's "DVD Copy" will copy most DVD5 DVDs, and when there's some kind of copy protection, I use DVD Decrypter, then Nero, or Shrink then Nero.
If I really want to waste some time making menus and stuff, I use DVDLab. Not sure about Lite-Ons (heard they're pretty good), but my Pioneer 106 hasn't let me down yet....I mainly use DVD-R media, Ritek/Imation/Fuji. |

1: Copied move with DVD Xcopy to a DVD -RW (only works on computer) 2: Copied the DVD-RW with Nero to a image on the hard drive 3: Copied that image to another DVD-RW 4: New DVD-RW will play in the AD1200 & Playstation 2 (unmodded) Have repeated this now more than once and it works like I said. I can't get a pristine copy to play in the AD1200. Gotta be a setting I am doing wrong the first time. DVDXcopy won't let me burn an image to hard drive, and there don't seem to be many options to set. Must be something NERO is doing right. Haven't gotten +R(W) to play in the AD1200 yet, about to try DVD+R on the PS2 and see if that works. UPDATE: The DVD+R copy works on the PS2.

I have been using LiteOn drives for a couple of years now and they are very good drives, as well as cheep. I have a Apex DVD player also and it doesn't play burned DVD's either, it could be something to do with there cheaper models. Also I have had better results burning the finished product with DVD Decrypter.

Ok I've just got into burning DVD's. I use Ulead DVD Workshop which seems to work fine. However, for VCD's I prefer Nero. Also I have had problems with the different DVD makes. I now use DVD's made by Ritek. Datawrite DVD's kept sticking & Princon did not work at all.

lately i've been having trouble using Shrink 3.1.2 and Nero 5.5.10.54. After I burn the images to the HD, I usually check to the TS_Video folder to delete the extra stuff (trailers, director comments, etc). Then when I use Nero to burn, it fails at try trying to reallocate the files and won't burn correctly. Am I screwing the burn process by deleting the extra DVD features? Help?!?!?

Everything seems to work fine now. I just continue regardless of the error and everything is playing fine. However, I'm still unsuccessful in getting any of the +R's to play in my AD1200. The weird thing is that my PS2 (non-chipped) is playing everything fine. Luck of the draw I guess.
