Electronic Insect Repellents?
Have any of you had any experience with these? Supposedly, they're units you plug into your wall that broadcast a frequency inaudible to human hearing, but drives pests mad and out of your home. My folks got some from Lowes a while back, but so far each summer has been the same - bugs in and out. Maybe we got a knock-off or something, I'm not sure. My brother has a friend who bought some, and successfully kept the roaches out of his apartment. Has anyone here had positive/negative results from such, and if positive, please name what brand you purchased.

My wife insists on occupying every vacant outlet in our house with one of these OR one of those stinky as hell glade type air fresheners.
Personally I CAN hear the daggone things, and find that they don't do a thing except for consume electricty, annoy the shit out of me, and occupy valuable electric outlets. I unplug them every chance I get and she plugs them back in. ~sigh~ The joys of compromise in a marriage, i wouldn't trade it for a minute ![]() -bear

They are, in purely technical terms, a S C A M.
Have fun, and remember, there's a sucker born every minute. If these things worked, don't you think you'd have heard of it? Don't you think every bistro would have an outside patio just "free" of bugs? Wouldn't this be just wonderful for tropical areas filled with insects? Just plug the miracle thing in and bugs run? If it worked don't you think you'd have heard about the earth shattering bug repellent that you just plug in, and it works. It doesn't, you haven't, except on infomercials. Scam. Please...

I remember that this was a scam because most people/professionals have said that these products do not work.
After some googling this seems to be a somewhat reliable site that provides some evidence that it is a scam http://www.pestcontrolcanada.com/Que...st_devices.htm Hope this helps anyone who was thinking about getting one of these devices. |
