CIW Foundations Exam
I'm looking to take the Certified Internet Webmaster exam in a few weeks. Has anyone here ever taken this? I'd be interested in any advice you have for a non-technical person taking it (only if you passed, though!). :)
I have the CIW Foundations for Dummies book and the CIW Foundations Certification Bible and they seem pretty good. If you happen to know of a particular resource/site that worked for you, let me know! Thanks all! |
I passed the exam! I scored an 87%! (You only need a 75% to pass.)
So if anyone else is looking to take this test, I passed by reading only these two books. Highly recommended. |
What are you planning on doing with the certificate?

I have a marketing degree and have worked in the same job in my company's marketing department for the last 5 years. I was pretty bored with the work I did. I maintained/operated the marketing database and performed market research, as well as a few other marketing activities. I went to get the CIW because I was looking to change jobs. I was applying for marketing jobs, and I thought the CIW would give my resume a nice boost.
The big surprise was that the IT dept in my company offered me a job last week! They are moving my database into their department because I am the only person that worked with it. I think one reason why I got hired was because I studied for this on my own time, which made a good impression. So now that my career will be switching to IT, I will use it to move through a few of the CIW tracks. Probably Site Designer because it looks interesting, plus the Database Specialist since I will be working with them... I have a lot to learn. |
