Why can't I access task manager or MSConfig?

Everytime I go to Run -> Msconfig. It pops up for a second, then disappears.

Same thing happens when I try to ctrl+alt+delete to Task Manager, it shows up and then disappears.

I am using Windows XP.

If anyone knows what's wrong, please tell me.

I wouldn't mind posting a Hijack This log either, if you wanted me to.

Just a wild guess: Are you logged in as an administrator?

Yeah I'm logged in like I usually am.

What kind of virus would it be?

Thanks.

I'm 100% sure. My friend had that same problem a few weeks ago.

Do you have any virus software on your PC?

It has to be a virus....I have seen it before at my old work but I didn't get a definite answer from the tech if it was a virus or not. I still say its a virus though.

I installed all 3 of the updates and nothing happened.

Should I just scan with Norton Antivirus or something?

Thanks.
