Unexpected Tweak UI result.
Okay,
Win XP pro, all current updates, service packs. I was messing with Tweak UI, stop groaning, I'm good enough to do that. The odd thing is, when I reduced the slider for Thumbnail Image quality, and clicked accept, all of my folder icons, and icons changed to flat 2-D win 3.1 looking things. Even my IE "e"on the quickstart changed to a less shaded version. All the cute little site icons to the left of my IE favorites dissappeared. They're all little blue "e's" now. What the heck? I moved the slider all the way to it's highest setting (after a re-boot); when I accept it, there is a screen change, where everything glitches for a moment while changes are made, but everything remains the same. I even tried to change the icon of my drive D icon to a RAM icon; it changes all right. But, when I change back to the correct icon, which is displayed correctly in the mess o'icons to chose from, that is NOT the icon I get when I select it. Instead of the 3-D icon, I get the 2-D. I don't know what to do at this point. Thanks.

Something worth trying. Check Internet Explorer and see if the >View>Text Size has been modified. It should be set to Medium by default. I doubt it will do anything, but it's worth a shot.

Bump.. I'm having the same problem right now. Xp Pro, Service Pack 1, Athlon XP 2400+, 256 megabytes Corsair DDR, Radeon 9000. Tried icon repair in TweakUI, no difference. Under Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance I have it set for best appearance, still no luck. I'm pretty sure the color is set at 32 bit, I'll doublecheck when I get home. Any other ideas?
