Transplanting cookies
I just switched hd's and i was wondering why i cant just transfer over the cookies and still be recognized.
i tried it with one cookie and it didnt work. it maybe that the cookie has expired or something, but the chacnes of that are low. is there anyway to transplant them so i dont have to log into every site? |
What browser are you using?
|
I don't see why it shouldn't be possible. I'm not certain where any recent-issue Windows browser stores its cookies, but evidently you've already overcome that...
Cookies are just text. Though there's no guarantee that any particular browser won't binarify them and add some sort of machine-specific gunk to them. Try moving your cookie from .tfproject.org. You know that one hasn't expired, right? |
i'm using ie6 and let me try the tfproject cookies.
edit: it does NOT work. i replaced the tfproject cookies from old hd to this one and wouldnt authenciate me. |
From within IE, click on File then import/export. Go through the wizard and export your cookies. Take them to the new machine and go to File, import/export. Go through the wizard and import your cookies. This has worked for me numerous times.
