Where to buy cheap DVD writeable media?

I got a DVD burner over the holidays and need to get some blank media - the R and RW formats.

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive brand of media and a retailer or on-line merchant that carries it?

I'm used to dirt-cheap CD-R media and the DVD media isn't inexpensive... I've always used Memorex with great success. I'm using a Lite-On 4x DVD burner if it helps.

Thanks.

wait a while to see if they come on sale. those mail in rebates can really cut the cost.

otherwise, check out pricewatch.com

At a local Sams Club over the weekend, my coworker picked up a spindle of 50 DVD-R discs for 60$ (20$ cheaper than anywhere he found online). He was so happy with the deal he bought three spindles.

You didn't specify in your post if you needed + or - media, or if either was acceptable. Any clarification?

Try supermediastore.com they have a good price on 4X Riteks. A spindle of 100 is on sale for $89. The sale page is at http://store.yahoo.com/supermediasto...diacoupon.html I just picked some up and I have ordered from them before with no hassles.

Another place to look at before purchasing any media is http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdmedia They have reviews on every disk imaginable so you can check compatibility with your burner and player before you buy disks that won't work.

Hadn't really considered it. I haven't read the other forum thread about the differences between - and + formats.

I just burned a DVD+R using Nero Recode and it worked well in my home DVD player.

I just bought 50 dvd-r w/no spindle/no case for 1.24ea from cyberguys, and shipping was figured into the price per disk.

They also sell these cases which are great for fitting into your notebook case when you are flying somehwere.

EDIT, I was trying to point to the quad cases. They are small and very nice.

I bought a sample pack from http://rima.com/ they seem to have good prices. Spool of 100 ritek (high quality) 4X DVD-Rs for $94, and 100 ritek 4X DVD+Rs for $125 lower quality brands are a lot cheaper/slower (spool of 100 1x princo DVD-Rs is $65)
