Digital Camera Memory Upgrade
Any of ya'll know anything about upgrading the memory in a digi-cam? My girlfriend got a digi-cam for Christmas. It holds 7 MB of flash memory and it says it takes SD memory upgrades. Does that mean we have to match the memory and camera brands? Or will any memory upgrades work with any brand camera?
There is a incredible amount of vague information on the Internet about this. "This works in 'most' digital cameras." "This memory works in digital cameras that take SD memory, but only if they're Sony." "This memory works in all cameras. The digi-cam must be Panasonic for it to work though." Her camera is a Concord Go 2000. We can't find any fucking Concord-branded memory, so we assume that all flash memory upgrades work with all digital cameras that support it. Anyone know the deal? We don't wanna buy a 128 MB upgrade and it not work. Thanks! -Lasereth

Any flash memory that is of the SD standard should work just fine--Kingston, Kensington, whatever, it should all work just fine.

You ought to be able to use MMC or SD in that camera.
Theres a few el cheapo brands of MMC/SDs that are incompatible with some cameras, but rare,. i'll add viking and lexar to sailors list. I was looking for an MMC card for my ngage , they sold me an SD card at best buy, swearing it's compatible, it didn't even fit i just went outside, tried and returned it. SD cards are a bit thicker, so if the slot is just over credit card thin about 1.4mm iirc , its probably better to go with MMC's usually i buy from expansys http://www.expansys.com/d_storage.asp This might be an expensive card for your tastes but its about the biggest around, you'll probably rarely fill it http://www.topram.com/mmc.htm Strangely the camera manufacturer lists the largest useable size SD/MMC card as 'unknown' but has tested upto 128MBs You'll also be able to use it as a portable drive ! |

Thanks for the replies everyone! That website is great CharlieX. We'll probably order something from there when we get the money.
