Monitor Resolutions & Refresh Rates

I've been struggling with this problem for a little while and havnt had much luck. Here's the issue:

Monitor: LG Studioworks E900B 19" Flat CRT
http://www.directdial.com/us/shoplg/item/E900B.html

Problem: According to the specs of the monitor, as seen on the url above, I should be able to run a resolution of 1600x1200 with a refresh rate of 75Hz. When I try to do this, all the settings are applied and the monitor states that it is running at 75Hz. The problem is that while running at 75Hz, I see the picture jiggling around a bit, particularly in the corners of the screen. It is a slight vibration type effect, but it is enough to make the screen unpleasant to look at. 60Hz is difficult to look at for long periods as it strains the eyes, but 75 is ok, if the monitor were to be functioning properly. I have tried running at lower resolutions with their maximum refresh rates and I get the same problem unless I run a very small res (800x600). I have tried getting correct drivers for the monitor and for my video card and have tried a couple of refresh rate fixing applications. I consider myself fairly computer litterate and am not sure what could be causing this problem. If anyone has any ideas, or experience with monitor troubleshooting, your help would be much appreciated.

For the record, my system specs are as follows:

OS: Windows XP Pro SP1
Processor: AMD XP 1800+
Motherboard: ECS K7S5A ( :( )
Ram: 1024MB PC 2700 DDR (running as 2100 due to lame mobo)
HD: 60gb Maxtor, 80gb Western Digital
Media: Generic DVD-Rom / CD-Rom, BenQ 48x cdrw
Browser: Opera

Thanks in advance for any help :D Happy New Year!

Thanks for giving the specs most people forget. However, what video card are you using to power the monitor? When you go to the control panel, display, settings, advanced, adapter, what does it say?

Staying at home tonight. Too many crazies out and about.

its probably either a grounding problem, bad video card, bad cable or bad monitor. Hard to tell remotely.

check everything is earthed properly if you have a multimeter you can check the earth, a lot of fancier extension coords have earth checks built in, but they are just good for is it earthed or not, not if its not earthed well.

share the same ground for compuer and monitor, try rerouting cables, don't cross power cables with video cables, don't wrap cables into bunches, make sure its screwed in tight, if the video cable came with the monitor its should be fine, however if it didn't it might not be spec'd for that refresh rate.

video card is firmly in place, also screwed in, sometimes moving other cards around or cables in your system can help.

all of the above is if its intereference, if its something else like the video card not being able to hande it , it won't do anything.

60 or 50 hz shimmering is usually the sign of bad earthing.
