ipod fanboys and girls read up
according to this, the battery on this sucker is unreplaceable and this particular one died after 18 months of use.

For all the effort that went into that video maybe they could have simply put a link on their site where you could buy a replacement battery. Would have saved them some time too. I suppose it's better to criticize and complain than actually find a solution. Quote:
And only sheep go to the slaughter. What's your point? |
Also - The model in question was one of Apple's first. The new generation iPods are far better in terms of battery reliability.

My battery gets only about an hour of playing time. I charged it fully before first use and have never run it completely out... :/

well given the link i posted, its pretty easy to see the first site is incorrect.
i'd say discredited, all rechargeable batteries have limited run times, intitially there was nothing you could do, then there was, thats fairly normal, replacement batteries often come a while after release, and anything thats faulty gets replaced during its life cycle. $49 isn't all that bad for such a battery, those things aren't cheap, i just paid $349 for a battery. If you go to Apple to buy it or get it replaced, expect to be gouged, but you knew that buying an iPod in the first place :) Even when that video was first made there were alternate options, since its gotten so easy to protest these days, checking out the facts isn't quite as popular anymore. Also its very easy to shorten the life of a LiON battery by misuse, this is one of the reason the warranties are so strict with them |
Apple also has a 10 day return policy. As far i'm concerned, Apple can go fckthmslvs. The only reason they're still in business is because of these 1-2 punch iTunes/iPod thing.
Dell DJ is pretty sweet anyhow, cheaper and i'm sure can be repaired a lot easier. I figure i'd throw this in the mix, http://osnews.com/story.php?news_id=5060 , that link basically shows how Adobe suggests that new computer buyers should purchase a 'zippy' PC over a comparably 'sluggish' Mac. =/ |

Tigerkick, the more accurate description is 500 charges. If you charge it all the way up, every day for 18 months, yeah, thats about 500 charges. Most people dont charge it half that often--which would give it a life of three years. The way I charge mine, it should last me nearly 10 years--by which point I will have something else. Next time before you go trying to pick a flame war, check your facts. |
