do software cable descramblers exist?

I'm searching for a software cable descrambler, and the only ones I've seen are only PAL compatible (only work in europe). I'm looking for one that descrambles NTSC (one that works in the US).

If anyone's concerned about legal issues, I live on a college campus, my cable comes from the university, and there are no scrambled channels. I won't be stealing premium cable. This is just to satisfy my own curiosity about programs that I've heard about, but seem to be vaporware.

It seems there is a color patch, but it doesn't look all that great.
