Uninstalling IE or help?
First off, I tried doing a search for this, but it said I wasn't allowed to access that page. Any clue what's up with that?
Now then... My problem is this: Internet explorer cant handle anything with javascript. It won't open pictures, and sometimes part of pages are completely missing. I've downloaded Java runtime environment and all that and it even asks which browser to associate the plug ins with. Even so, it still can't seem to handle any Java commands/applets within pages. Therefore, my question is, Can someone tell me what I need to do to get IE to 'work' properly? Failing that, can someone point me to a version of IE that has the Java portion included (since I've been told that they had to unbundle it at sometime in the past.) Failing THAT, could someone tell me how to COMPLETELY uninstall IE 6 so that I can use a browser that actually does what it's supposed to, namely Mozilla? (I'm using win2k) Lots of questions, I know, but other help has proven to be an excercise in frustration. Thanks everyone. |

I've already downloaded and installed that, Omega2K4. IE still won't run any Javascript within pages.
For example, www.samsclub.com comes up with just a blank page. When I go to View Source, I get this: <HTML> HEAD> SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript" SRC="/sci/sci.js"> /SCRIPT> NOSCRIPT> META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0.000001; URL=/eclub/main_home.jsp?mt=a"> /NOSCRIPT> /HEAD> BODY> /BODY> /HTML> (plus the < tags of course) Clearly the browser is incapable of handling even the simplest java functions. Anyone else? |
do you have some blocker software thats stopping it ? or is javascript turned off, reset all the options.
you should be able to run a repair install of IE in add/remove programs under windows components, unless thats an XP only thing |
Hmmm, I have Webwasher running. Turing it off seems to stop the problem, now I just need to isolate which part of it is causing it to act all screwey.

instead of "webwasher" you could try the google bar, which stops pop ups and is a great addition to your browser as well.
http://toolbar.google.com/ another thing you could try is firebird mozilla, and excellent browser. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/ |
