Windows XP Service Pack 2 - IE pop-up blocker and new security features
Article from eWeek.
In a different thread I was joking that Windows users would have to wait until Longhorn to get a pop-up blocker for IE (yes, that was one of the new features the press was saying about Longhorn). It seems that MS has gotten around to putting one in IE for XP's Service Pack 2. Too little too late I guess but they are adding a number of other security related features and a more robust (?) firewall. Maybe it'll help. Of course, some of these new security features will be OFF by default. I wonder what percentage of people will know they exist and turn them on.

After installing XP SP1, my networked HP printer wouldn't work (wouldn't duplex). One of my wireless nics took hours to reconfigure. Zone Alarm chimes up EVERY time Media Player runs.
Lets don't even go to the Office XP servive pack bull*hit! Thats all I need, another friggin service pack patch kit that screws everything up just to force changes in hard/software in M$ofts advantage. Don't start with open source diatribes. I have my M$oft, and am working with, and eventually away from same. Longhorn is something nobody wants shoved up their assterisk*. * poor attempt at humor Last edited by poof; 12-19-2003 at 05:24 PM.. |
