Has anyone tried a Koolance water cooling case?
 

Has anyone tried one? I am thinking about buying one and would like to know what you think.

I havent used one. I have heard that they are relatively nice--not as high performance as building one yourself, and certainly expensive, but then again, going this route means less maintenance and pain-in-the-ass factor.

I have extensive use of the Koolance 601b.

The Koolance is a sleek and tight unit. But, Just like sleek and tight women, don't count on it.


The customer service is nice, however, the product is in need of refining.

This liquid cooled PC is an excellent idea, yet, Koolance hasn't fleshed out the idea as well as it should have been.

I have two computers that will provide real world specs for my assertion.

Dinking around tonight, I found that the case that revs up is the one that works. The other one , 3200 amd, never cycles and it is the one that locks up. Looks like another rma for the control board.

Other than my pissy complaints, they are nice. Customer service can't be beat. You talk to a human and he just goes out of his way to help you. The one that works is cool, err, great (damn
puns).

Once I get the control board working on the other one, I think I should get great results.

edit, they are nice looking, quiet, just need more finesse.

Errrrr what exactly are the problems that you've experienced with the Koolance cases?

Chris, I have found the Koolances, when performing on cue (perfect situation), no problems. However, I don't think they are capable of cooling sata drives, fast vid cards (Radeon 9800 128, and a GeForce FX5900 256), and AMD 3200 or 3000. The ambient air is crucial as they can only transfer heat to another area (radiator) and local air temp is important.

I guess you are wondering why I own two.

When I bought the first one I had some little problems that were quickly remedied and decided the water cooling was the way to go for me.

I had to rma a broken water pump on the first unit, rma a control panel for the second unit. I was given top notch customer service, and both work very nicely. I just feel, from personal use, they are not designed to cool top end heavy heating components that I mentioned above.

Koolance 1 = 3200 Barton, 1.5gb Corsair (air cooled) 2x120gb sata water cooled Maxtor raid 0, Geforce fx5900 ultra 256 water cooled.

Koolance 2 = 3000 Barton, 1.5 gb Kingston (air cooled) 2x120gb sata water cooled Maxtor raid 0, Radeon AIW 9800 Pro 128 water cooled.

As long as the ambient is cool (pun intended) I have limited problems with them.

As I said before, the customer service is second to none.
