CD burner won't recognize blank cd...
I just bought a stack of blank cds. Cheap ones, but whatever. I burn a copy of disk 1 to the wall for my mother, go to burn the second one, and the damn drive wont even recognize the fact that there is a cd in there...
Any ideas? Ive already tried four differant blanks, so I doubt its that. |

Change the media.
I had the same problem. Just a couple of weeks ago, I made my first attempt to burn my very first CD. I was running Nero 6 using Memorex CD-R media and Nero kept giving me a "please insert blank CD" error, just after it appeared to start burning to the CD-R. I did every thing that Nero's site suggested and still the same problem. I thought that my CD/RW was faulty or that maybe its Firmware was corrupted. I flashed the memory with the latest firmware version, still no good. I began searching the net for clues, and I believe that it was here that I read that others were having similar problems with Memorex media, so at Wal-Mart I bought a stack of Sony CD-Rs at a lesser price and they seem to be working, although I'm wasting every-other-one with failed burns. I'm still trying to work that out...Good luck!

I had the same thing happen to me. First the memorex started not working so I started using some cheap store brand ones. But after awhile nothing worked anymore.
It turns out that I had dust buildup on my drive lens, after a good cleaning it ran everything fine, even the old memorex. I don't know if those CD cleaner kits you see in the store work or not, I had taken mine apart thinking it was the drive mechanism and saw all the dust. I just cleaned it with a q-tip and put everything back like it was. Now it works like a charm. If only it wasn't a 4x4x20 :-(
