New Mouse?
My faithful Microsoft Intellimouse died on me after two years without any problems whatsoever, I was thinking of getting another one but I want to try something different this time. Does anyone recommend a mouse for gaming (FPS in general) ? Oh yah, it's gotta be pretty big too, I have a big hand and the Intellimouse was pretty big so it suited me :)
PS I heard wireless is a big no-no for any kind of gaming but that was a while back is it still the same or have they improved wireless so that, a cord and a cordless one are bassicly the same? |
Look at the Logitech MX-500 its amazing for FPS and its got buttons out the ass..

MX700 is great, but it's a little on the heavy side and some people don't like that. That's just because of the batteries, though, which I believe any wireless mouse would have the same problem.

Wireless isnt so good for gaming, now what you want is one of these bad boys;

But, yes, like was mentioned, the MX700 is a bit weighty (didn't bother me when I tried it out but it could bother some people). If you think it's weighty and don't care if it's wired or wireless, then just get the MX500 - same thing but with a wire. And, of course, you should always try it out in a store before you buy any mouse. |
it might be worth a try calling microsoft to see if theyll replace it free, sometimes they do, worth a try

I just have a cheap Logitech USB IR mouse. Couldnt be happier.

charliex is correct. I had a Microsoft Intellimouse that died on me after like a year and a half. It was a rev 2.0. I called MS tech support, they transferred me to someone else who logged my complaint. Five days later I had a brand new rev 3.0 Intellimouse. The cost to me was zero. I think MS knows that there are defects in their older mice. But whatever, they did right by me.

what charliex said is true. microsoft will replace the mouse for you, but they require some information, like barcodes and serial numbers, all of which you will have no problem with if you still have the original box and the broken mouse. (i have got 3 replacement mice from MS in the past 2 years)
in terms of mouse size, i too have large hands and the MS Explorer 3.0 has done me well. I have tried other mice, including the mx700 and none of them fit me nearly as well as the 3.0. I would also advise against the mx700 wireless for gaming. i find it a lot less accurate and responsive as wired mice. The razor boomslang that was posted is also quite a nice mouse, but i think that it's a bit too flat. hope my views helped you out. |
my intellimouse was acting up on me. then i removed the usb->ps/2 connector and everything was fine!

The flatness of the Boomslang is what I like about it, means you dont get strain injuries after playing Quake3 for 3 hours straight :D
