computer case to liqour cabinet
well since im staying in the dorms for thanksgiving... so i decided i would work on turning the old junker gateway pentium 120 i got from a friend into a liquor cabinet...
I already pulled it all apart and pulled all the parts off it... heres the bare skeleton http://www.cs.ttu.edu/~schrodt/casemod/P2010795.JPG and another shot of it http://www.cs.ttu.edu/~schrodt/casemod/P2010800.JPG the single piece cover and the front bezel http://www.cs.ttu.edu/~schrodt/casemod/P2010801.JPG the single piece cover... needs a good cleaning... http://www.cs.ttu.edu/~schrodt/casemod/P2010802.JPG front bezel http://www.cs.ttu.edu/~schrodt/casemod/P2010803.JPG im thinking the hard stuff on the bottom and the beer on the top... Im planning on hinging the 5.25 drive bays for beer access... and the whole front to get to everything... im debating about whether i should try to cut the side piece to have that liftable... |
haha! That is a great idea JStrider. Incorporating a liquor cabinet in a working computer case would be the obvious next step... Funny funny stuff. I will be keeping my eye out for pictures of the finished product.

LOL i love the idea...
If i had the money to wast i would use the new Dell Xps tower with the opening side door... Plus its nice and spacy lol |
hmmmm whats the easiest way to remove the rivits in the case?
anybody have any ideas... figure ill just use the dremel and the cutting disk... |
Get a cheap CD-Rom drive and turn it into a sliding beer coaster, heck, some people think it's a Coffee coaster anyway.

... dont have a drill... just a dremel...
Mr.Deflok the case came with a 4x 3 cd changer drive... was thinking about leaving that in... dont have a powersupply tho... |
You could probably pick one up for cheap, wouldn't need to be very powerful either, plus with a PSU in the case you could attach case mod lights and what-not. I feel like a geek.
|
Make it refrigerated. Nice beer fridge for under the desk.
|
Thats a really good idea. I just finished hiding my beer since they search the rooms for fire hazards over break. No one would think to look inside a computer case...
|
Happymaan:i was thinking about how i could make it refrigerated... would have to find an airchiller... and some insulation...
Mr.Deflok: the power supply got stripped out of it before i got it... might try to salvage one from a junkyard tho... sailor420:yup... i hate living in the dorms... |
That's the best idea I've ever heard for a computer that should be put out to pasture. You've gotta share the finished pictures.
I wonder if I could get away with it at work? ;) |

well.. if you put in a power supply.. you could setup some neon lights that turn on when you open it... and a water cooling system

i could see something done with peltiers... and a heatsink on each side...
shrug... if anyone has some extra peltiers and whatnot just sitting around that you want to send me lemme know... :p |
hehe, that would be very hard to make a refrigereated one, but it sure would be funny! Good Luck! and DO show pictures plz

My mom is visiting for T-Day,
she said your going to "Start a fire..." LOL i gotta kick outa that. |
what am i gonna do thats gonna start a fire... it doesnt even have a power supply... and dont really have plans to add one... unless i can get a freebee somewhere...
my dremel came with a drill bit and it just happened to be pretty much the exact size i needed so i used that to get the rivits taken care of... i took out the motherboard tray... http://www.cs.ttu.edu/~schrodt/casemod/P2020808.JPG i test fitted a couple liqour bottles a sky vodka(ooopretty blue), a bicardi O , and a margarita mix bottle... the margarita mix bottle was the tallest and it fit with just a little room to spare... i dont have any longneck beer bottle to test fit... ill have to remedy that :p... anybody know how tall a bottle is? |
