What the hell just happened?
Okay i seemed to have this problem earlier.
I ran Ad-Aware and scanned my system and it found a bunch of infected shit. One of the filenames was called "RedSheriff" and there was a bunch of other stuff too so i got rid of all of it. Soon after i had deleted everything it found, my computer started going a little crazy. For example while i was browsing the internet, all the sudden the font size changed, somehow i started typing in Caps when Caps Lock wasn't even on. And then some other "SandBoxer" pop-ups came up. So this time, i did a virus scan but found nothing was infected. After awhile my computer got back to normal and nothing strange seems to be happening anymore. So can anyone explain what the fuck was going on with my computer earlier tonight. I don't know if it became possessed or what but i do know i don't want that shit happening again. |
Sometimes my font size gets increased acsidentally. It happens if you have text selected and hold control while scrolling with the scroll ball on your mouse. I doubt that was what happend to you though, since it fixed itself...
But I'd offer that as a possible anyway. I don't know about the caps though. |
It's highly recomended that you don't restart IE after an AdAware scan until you've given the computer a hard restart if it found excessive adware.
The reason for this is that many spyware programs run scripts on IE startup and will regenerate the spyware files. the spyware makers are trying to keep up with AdAware by creating programs the limit it effectiveness. |
its unlikely but possible you have a trojan that allows someone to mess with you, a couple of scans with different virus/trojan checkers will put your mind at rest (and if doesn't happen again)

Since you have used Ad-Aware, get Spybot Search & Destroy (also free), which sometimes catches other things. I use both.

Thanks for the info.
Charliex- actually my computer did detect trojan virus a couple weeks back but it automatically deleted it so I don't think that's it. And from now on i'll make sure to restart my computer after running Ad-aware and Spybot just to be safe. God i hate spyware . . . |
Yeah, run Spybot as well. I have found that each program picks up software that the other misses, so I leave both on my hard drive.
Are you using IE? I have found that merely by moving away from IE, you can lower the amount of spyware that gets installed. Try Mozilla Firebird. |
