How can you get around a "no right click"
There's a movie I want to save but when I right click it says "access denied." Is there a keyboard shortcut for saving target or anything else I could do?

I've often wondered about evading the blocked right click when trying to save pictures and movies on websites to disk.
I just now (just now, while reading this post) realized that I could always "View->Source" in IE and access the file directly instead of from the page. Duh, me. |
Either access the source as described; load the page with javascript turned off (in security options, disable scripting); or use the excellent MyIE2 and its "allow right click" plugin.
|
Cntrl + U = view source
make your own page from it with absolute links, if its that much worth it to you. Disabling scripting works too. |
some keyboards have a "context menu" key. if you have one, then what happens when you press it on this site?
|
Depending on the script being used, you can usually just hold ENTER while your right click, and after a couple of tries you'll get the menu like normal.
Also, many of those right click scripts are made for IE only. try it with a different browser to see if you can just get around it without any work (holding enter isn't much work, but whatever) I use firebird and a lot of the time I'll right click something, and it'll give me the popup, but the menu will still be allowed to open. The way the enter thing works is it closes the popup before it interferes with the menu coming up. |

excellent tip redlemon. i didn't realize that was an option.
|
MyIE2, a wrapper for MIE that allows tabbing and a lot of other functions, has built-in scripts that let you do things you can't normally - Enable Right-Click, Flash Save, View Source.
Give it a look if you have the time. http://www.myie2.com/ |
Yea just view source thats easy enough.
|
Shift + Click
|
Also, if the pic was displayed on your screen, then it should be in your browser's cache. I've been able to retreive protected pics from there before.
|
man, that javascript thing is a real amateurish, lame way to try to protect content!! if someone really wants to "steal your pics" they're gonna find a way to do it anyway, using one of the methods described above.
it's one of my pet peeves too, because i use mouse gestures in Mozilla mapped to my right mouse button and all i get when trying to navigate on one of those damn pages is an annoying popup :( |
Interesting how hard it is to be a pain in the ass, when people can just end-run around protections so easy. It's so cliche' to build a protection trick only to be undone by a 15 year-old with a felt-tip pen. Nature is on the side of freedom baby!!! Open Rules & FTM, man!!

I just press left mouse button, hold it, press right button, let up the left button, move cursor over object on which you wanted to click, then let up the right button. Usually works fine.
|
wow simple tricks. thanks everyone.
|
I just right click on it, hold down spacebar when the 'no access' menu appears (holds down 'ok' button or whatever is there) then as soon as i release the spacebar I right click again. always lets me get to the menu that way.
|
there's a bunch of ways. you can right click, but do not let go. when the message pops up, hit enter to close, THEN let go of right click and it will open the menu
|
Used the Left click hold, right click, left go of left click method and it worked. Fun stuff
|
I keep two browsers on my machine.
IE6 and firebird. Any sites I want to see the source to or grab images from I use firebird with java turned off. |
Very good tps all I will try them all Thanks
